4 Fresh Front Porch Styles for Spring

Updated: May 11, 2021

It's Spring and my front porch needed some attention. It was time to remove the winter pots and style it for Spring. As the season's change, many people start asking themselves (or others if you aren't a decorator) these questions ...

  1. How can I make my front porch look good?

  2. How can I add curb appeal to my porch?

  3. How can I style my front porch?

  4. How do I make my front porch more inviting?

  5. How can I decorate my small front porch? Or my narrow front porch?

  6. How can I make the front of my house more appealing?

We thought it might be helpful to pull together some ideas to give you some insights and help freshen up your curb appeal. We started off by tending to our own porch ... because, you can't tell other people to make their porches pretty if you don't take care of your own, right?! Once we finished up on our own front pad, we ventured out in search of some other great examples in the area. We hope you are able to find some things in this collection of examples that will dress up your porch and ultimately improve your overall curb appeal. Let's get to decorating!

LIFE IS BETTER ON THE PORCH

The Miller Family, our local friends, have the cutest front porch with a long skinny section. Throughout COVID, they spent time repainting their house and really dressing up their curb appeal. These photos from her porch look like something out of #HouseBeautiful Magazine. We absolutely love this vibrant yellow door popping off of the deep navy blue house with white trim and cedar wood accents. This combination is so enchanting and truly makes the colors of Spring pop as you drive by. The front door is a great focal point of any home, so don't be afraid to make it stand out.

We've included links to all items shown in the images we could. Some of the products found here are from more than a year ago, so they are no longer available, but we've added links for similar items. We can just envision the Millers sitting here on this beautiful porch watching as their kids ride bikes up and down the street. Bring on Springtime ... it's finally here! And, let's be honest - "Life is Better on the Porch"!

We love how she utilized the small skinny section of the porch to add a bench and table as a conversation area. It makes a welcoming feeling as visitors approach.

THE CLASSIC CHIC

This is Kim's front porch. While shopping for a few new inspirational pieces to add, we were torn between trying to stick to a neutral black/white palette or to go with pops of bright colors. So ... we bought the stuff for this neutral look, as well as the bright colors look to style both and polled our followers to let them help us decide. Interestingly enough, both styles had lots of votes. What we like most with this look are all the woven accents that are super popular this season. For instance, the various textures provided by the basket on the door and the basket holding the potted plant on the right exude a sense of warmth and dimension. The geometric design on the pillow in the woven rattan chair draws in your eye and invites you to sit down and take a quick rest. Right now, all the rage is to layer a throw rug underneath your doormat. So, we chose this black and white rug with a welcoming hello sentiment doormat. One last touch we worked in were some lanterns, which we felt added a touch of cozy and a sweet ambiance at night. For this overall look, the only colors you see are coming from the potted plants and greenery.

Pairing neutral colors with colorful potted plants, you can get a great "classic chic" look.

COVER ME IN SUNSHINE

Again, this is Kim's porch, with the same core but a few twists to give a whole new vibe. We brought in a lot of pops of bright yellow. To do this, we swapped out the black hello doormat for a yellow one, added a pineapple pillow, and we brought in this charming watering can. When we first laid eyes on the watering can in Home Goods, we were stopped in our tracks. We couldn't help thinking, "now that gets your attention!" We went ahead and picked it up and headed on down the aisle. Just a few feet away, we spotted this adorable little lemon tree and just melted. We stuck it down inside the watering can and we were so in love with where this project was headed.

The icing on the cake was finding the "hello sunshine" wooden sign with the beaded trim. This look truly stole the prize and took the majority of votes in our poll. To be honest, Kim doesn't use yellow anywhere else in her decor ... but outside on this porch where the sun shines most of the day ... it just made perfect sense.

The added curb appeal with this pop of yellow was astonishing. Each time we pull into the driveway, the splash of sunshine puts a smile on our face!

HELLO, FROM THE FOSTERS

This adorable porch of Abby Foster's (owner and stylist at Lorraine Hair Salon) is so perfectly girlie and quaint. It's modern yet shabby chic style brings a smile to my face every-time we visit.

Have you all seen this humorous rug with the note to package deliverers to hide the packages from husband? Anyone else's husband always think they get way too many packages? (Especially since COVID...) Abby's shabby chic style is so perfect with the galvanized buckets and accents, to the boho print run under her doormat. The Sherwin Williams Rachel Pink door just brings joy to our hearts. What a fun girlie touch.

We would absolutely love to see how you have styled your porch, so please share details and pics. No matter what style you choose, we hope you enjoy the process of transforming your space and creating your very own inviting welcome!

xoxo,

Kim and Ashley
