Summer Fashion Favorites

Updated: Jun 30, 2021

The temps are finally heating up! If you know anything about Missouri, the summer temps can exceed 100 degrees and it gets quite humid. With that in mind, it is imperative to have some items with fabrics that breathe.

Here are some of our great new finds that are on-trend and will beat the heat!

Tie-Dye has been on point for a while now, but we rarely find something tie-dye that looks age-appropriate. When we saw this romper, we thought the print was tastefully done and it was worth giving a try. The fabric is super soft and comfortable, it does not wrinkle, and it looks really cute. We think this is great to throw on after a day of boating or when headed for a day at the pool or even a casual dinner out. Kim actually wore this to dinner twice while we were in Destin. It is cute enough and covers enough to wear for running errands as well. Super bonus ... it is a complete outfit for $25!

Anchor Short Sleeve Helly Hansen Shirt

Who are we kidding? You all are not surprised to see a summer top with an anchor on it as a favorite, are you?! The quality on this top is excellent and it is a nice cotton blend fabric. It wicks sweat and water away and dries quickly. The cap sleeves are a fun element to the design of this nautical top. It also has a really great fit . . . not too snug and not too loose. This top comes in several other fun solid colors and stripes. It could be dressed up or down to make a casual or dressy feel.

These are super cute with the trendy raw hem and they have a little distressing to them. We don't know about you, but we call it a victory when we find on-trend shorts, but that fit appropriately. If you don't know what we mean by that ... well, let's just say that there "ain't nobody wanting to see middle-aged women in daisy dukes," so the 4-inch inseam protects against that. These shorts have the right amount of stretch and comfort and have become a frequent choice when needing to leave the house wearing something other than workout shorts.

4. Tory Burch Miller Sandals (shown in the pic below with the embroidered dress)

Kim has these in turquoise and black, Ashley has the camel. These look adorable with dresses, shorts, and jeans, and the bonus is that they are comfortable! These are considered one of those investment staples because they are on the pricey side. However, they are classic and do not go out of style - Kim has had the turquoise pair for at least 8 years, and this Spring she added the black.

We are always a bit nervous when ordering dresses from Amazon, but this one is a nice find for under $30. We ordered the black version in a medium and it fit TTS (true to size) for Kim. She normally wears a size 10 and it fits perfectly. The embroidery detail is so nice. This is a perfect dress for graduation parties, summer weddings, and showers, or church on Sunday.

We ran across these super cute slip-on shoes at TJ Maxx, but great news for you, we found them available on Amazon. The light camo is nice and subtle so it feels perfect for Summer. These are great for days when your pedi is not on point or when you are going somewhere and need something with a little more structure than a sandal.

This top is super cute and effortless paired with white or denim shorts. Fun summer tops with a good fit and fun print are always great to have. We're all about effortless tops you can wear a normal bra with — because life is too short to have to wear uncomfortable half bras. Don't you agree? We absolutely love Cassie of Hi Sugarplum, if you haven't checked out her blog, you should. She's an incredible fashionista and designer with a love for lake life, too! She even has a lake house she calls “The Sugar Shack!” She's the designer for this collection that just launched called “Just Add Water.” There are many adorable pieces and we immediately fell in love with this bright palm leaf print, but the entire collection is perfect for anyone that loves living life by the water.

Who's ready for Taco Tuesday? This cute top has beautifully detailed embroidery and a really cute ruffled sleeve. We are also fans of vertical stripes, as they have a slenderizing effect. Just putting this top on provides an instant festive feeling and makes us ready for a weekend outing. Fit tip; we sized up as it does run a bit tight, and we weren't big fans of the pompoms, so we just knotted the ties and chopped them off.

This fun palm leaf print dress from Title Nine is perfect for wearing after a long day in the sun. It became a quick favorite because you do not have to wear a bra (it is built in!), it does not wrinkle, and it has a great weight to the fabric that makes it drape nicely over the curves of the body. Pairing this with flat black sandals makes for a very comfortable evening out on the town.

This palm leaf dress is so versatile. It provides enough coverage to make it appropriate for business and it is perfect for the office, a bridal shower/wedding, dinner at the beach, or date night out. It is a super soft cotton fabric that has a great flow to the A-line cut making it super flattering on the body. Pairing this with some rattan palm leaf earrings makes it a full-on tropical statement. Ashley wore this dress to the bridal brunch that we hosted in Destin and looked stunning! Bonus, it's less than $30 on Amazon!

We hope you find some fun summer pieces from our curated collection of favorite finds! Let us know what you find to be the best summer wardrobe addition!
